Enabling the Experts

Situational Analysis:

As part of an on-going initiative, this leading manufacturer was implementing a new manufacturing process in its Australian plant to maintain global competitiveness. It was important for the company to manage the change internally, therefore, a team of young, enthusiastic and switched-on engineers, lead by an experienced manager, was assembled to facilitate the change.

Although technically savvy, the team had little change management experience and:

§         Needed to understand why there was so much resistance to this change

§         Have an effective way of communicating the change and

§         Create ownership of the change within the business.

Resurgence was approached to provide change management training for the team. This brief was extended to include representatives from other areas within the business that were going through significant change.

Solution:

The solution involved:

§         Conducting an analysis to pin point specific training needs for the team

§         Tailoring and conducting a hands-on change management workshop to meet their specific needs using their project as a case study

§         Facilitating a session on broader change issues

§         Post training follow-up

Outcome:

The team had a structured plan for moving forward that included:

§         A project plan for the change project.

§         The identification of key stakeholders

§         An impact analysis that identified key issues and priorities

§         A structured communications plan

§         A plan to engage high level management and other key stakeholders

§         Strategies for overcoming barriers

In addition the team identified a number of strategic initiatives, which were submitted to senior management for endorsement and some of these are currently being implemented.
